RIZZANI DE ECCHER WINS ITS FIRST CONTRACT IN SCANDINAVIA
19/9/2016

Rizzani de Eccher, as leader of the Joint Venture with Belgian Besix and Spanish Acciona Infraestructuras, has been awarded the Frederikssund Link contract in Denmark, overcoming the strong competition with major European general contractors.
The project is a Design & Build contract worth approx. 133 million and includes design & construction of an 8-km-long dual-carriageway highway, comprehensive of a 1.4-km-long bridge over the Roskilde Fjord, as well as several smaller civil structures (e.g. fauna overpasses, cycle lanes), and 1 km of approach roads. It aims to replace the old bridge built in 1935 and reduce serious traffic congestion by providing an alternative to the only currently active bridge over the fjord.
The success of the Joint Venture can be attributed to submitting the best technical solution for the most competitive price; the consortium proposed an alternative bridge design, with variable height and larger spans to reduce the number of bridge foundations and piles. The Client the Danish Road Directorate has also acknowledged particular experience of each JV partner in projects of similar technical complexity and in working within environmentally protected areas (the Frederikssund Link is located within a Natura 2000 zone). The thorough attention to the biodiversity of the fjord and to the well-being of inhabitants of residential areas, located closely to the future construction site, as well as careful and detailed risk assessment added to the high value of the tender offer.
The design phase will start in October 2016 while preliminary site activities are scheduled for December 2016, and the project is due to be completed in late 2019. Deal will be participating as nominated supplier for the provision of engineering services, precast & erection equipment.
